Water and sprinkler play

Home childminding in [area of Sheffield]
Nourished Hearts is a small, considered space: not a nursery, not a franchise, but a home given over entirely to the children within it. Every meal is cooked from scratch with organic ingredients, every hour is unhurried, and every child is known by name rather than by number, because we keep our numbers deliberately few so that care never becomes a queue. This is childminding built the way we would want it built for our own children: intentional, nourishing, and quietly exceptional.
Predictable enough for children, flexible enough for parents.
Arrivals and breakfast. A calm start, nobody is rushed through the door.

We're happy for you to visit before you decide. Most parents come for an hour while the children are here, so you can see how the day actually runs.
Beyond the basics
Alongside free play, outdoor time and books every day, the week has a rhythm of its own: regular activities at home, outings further afield, and some of what we teach is about keeping children safe, not just occupied.
One anchor activity a day, with free play, outdoor time and books running alongside every day of the week. Painting and storytelling run every week; number bingo and letter bingo each run twice a month; everything else runs once a month.
Brought out on warm, dry days.
A classic on a hot afternoon, towels and spare clothes always on hand.
Shallow, supervised, and over as soon as anyone's had enough.
The patio as a giant canvas, washed away by the next rain.
Giant bubbles and bubble wands, always a hit outdoors.
The same food, eaten on a blanket in the garden instead of at the table.
Cushions, hoops and cones set up outside instead of indoors.
Twice a week, weather and group permitting, for children aged 2 to 7.
Development that goes beyond keeping children busy.
Using simple, age-appropriate songs and conversation, children learn that their body belongs to them, which parts are private, and that it is always okay to say no and to tell a trusted adult if something feels wrong. This follows the same principles used in NSPCC-style safeguarding education for young children.
We give children the words for what they're feeling rather than leaving them to act it out. A simple feelings check-in, stories that name emotions honestly, and calm modelling when something goes wrong all help a child learn that being upset, frustrated or overjoyed is normal, and that there's always a way to say so instead of just showing it.
Small, real responsibilities build real confidence. Children are encouraged to dress themselves, wash their own hands, pour their own drink, tidy away what they've used and hang up their own coat, all at whatever pace suits their age. It's slower than doing it for them, and that's the point.
